MURANG'A SPEAKER CONDEMNS INTIMIDATION BY POLICE
I condemn in the strongest terms possible the cruel and uncalled for intimidation of the Members of Murang'a County Assembly who went to Ndakaini for purposes of public participation. Public participation is a Constitutional mandate and not a conditional mandate.
I have learnt that the police dispersed and beat Members of the Assembly who were peacefully exercising their mandate as hte people's representatives. We demand an explanation and apology. Nothing will stop the Assembly from enacting a law to ensure that the residents of Murang'a benefit from a natural resource being exploited from the County.
Hon. Nduati Kariuki.
SPEAKER, MURANG'A COUNTY ASSEMBLY
